There's been a significant increase in the number of public order and drunkenness offences detected across Leitrim in the last year.
This month's Joint Policing Meeting heard that drug driving offences were also on the rise.
Figures presented by Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken at the Leitrim JPC meeting this week revealed a rise in certain types of crimes across the county.
Public order incidents grew from 29 to 50 in the space of 12 months while drunkenness offences rose from just six in 2021 to twenty-three in 2022.
Gardai say this is in part due to the return of the night time economy following the Covid pandemic.
Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs jumped from 13 to 16 incidents in the past year.
However, burglaries were down just over 30% while domestic violence incidents also showed a similar reduction.
Sexual offences also saw a 27% decrease from 15 in 2021 to 11 in 2022.
Gardai say they are working with a number of agencies to create awareness around consent, healthy and unhealthy relationship which they believe is lowering these type of crimes.
