High accommodation and rental car prices will have an effect on tourism in Ireland.
That's according to Roscommon TD Michael Fitzmaurice who says Ireland is known as a rip off republic.
The cost of a renting a family car in Dublin for a fortnight is as much as 4,000 euro more expensive than Athens, Lisbon and Barcelona.
Failte Ireland has this week warned that car rental prices here are undermining Ireland's reputation as a value-for-money destination.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Deputy Fitzmaurice urged businesses especially hotels to re-think their high prices.
