Work on resurfacing the N5 between Tulsk and Rathcroghan in Roscommon is expected to begin shortly.
Funding of €1 million euro was announced for upgrading the section at the beginning of this year and members were told that work should finally be able to begin soon.
The condition of the surface on the N5 in the area, and on the N61 between Tulsk and Elphin, were both raised by Councillor Liam O' Callaghan at Friday's meeting of Boyle MD.
Councillor O' Callaghan says several people have been complaining about the conditions on the two roads.
He says he was told the TII has agreed to give some funding for the N61, and a bigger project may be carried out in the future.
The Fine Gael Councillor says he'd like warning signage, and some interim repairs carried out in the meantime…
