A four month roads project is beginning today on the N63 in Longford town with the works set to finish in December.
Motorists in the town are being advised that some delays can be expected during the works, and that road closure and diversions will be needed at different times along the route from the Market Square out to the Flancare Roundabout.
The work will involve reconstruction of the road surface and existing footpaths as well as ducting and drainage along the Market Square, Harbour Row, Killashee Street and out to the roundabout.
The scheme was allocated over €700,000 in the last couple of years and local councillor Gerry Warnock says he's happy this area of the town will finally get much needed attention.
