Over 100 people attended the unveiling of a plaque outside his house this afternoon.

Today marks the fifth anniversary of the death of Liam Farrell, whose body was found outside his house in Rooskey. 

His family believes he was assaulted, and gardai are still investigating his death.

Liam Farrell was found dead at the back of his house in Rooskey in January 2020 at 87 years of age, in what his family believe were suspicious circumstances.

His family believes he was assaulted, and an inquest returned an open verdict in September.

Cllr Sean McGowan brought a motion forward calling on the council to put plans in place.

A senior investigator met the Farrell family in Carrick-on-Shannon today, as he reviews the garda investigation.
