Today marks the fifth anniversary of the death of Liam Farrell, whose body was found outside his house in Rooskey. 

Over 100 people gathered in Co Leitrim today as a memorial plaque was unveiled for an  87-year-old man who died in suspicious circumstances in January 2020.

The memorial was unveiled outside his home today, with prayers from Fr Seamus O'Rourke and speeches from family members.

Liam's family believes he was attacked and a garda investigation is still ongoing into his death.

The plaque says: "Liam was brutally attacked behind his house and in the hay shed, where he was tied up with a rope and severely beaten.

"He was subsequently dragged from the hay shed to the back of the house, as we have been told, and evidenced by injuries to his body.

"Our father lay dying dying outside the back door in the coldest of winter conditions before finally passing away some 15 hours later."

His niece Noeline Farrell is appealing for help in solving the case.
