This latest alert affects Galway, Roscommon, Tipperary, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan and Monaghan. It will run from 7pm until 8am tomorrow morning.
Met Eireann again is warning of extremely cold weather with dangerous travelling conditions as well as raising concerns for animal welfare. The rest of the country will be under a status yellow alert - that will be in place until midday tomorrow. It's expected temperatures in the midlands could go as low as minus 7 in parts - while Met Eireann is still predicting a steady thaw over the weekend.
