A local Paralympian is set to represent Team Ireland for the second time. Richael Timothy is from Roscommon and played schoolgirl soccer for Ireland at U-15 and U-17 level alongside current Irish captain Katie McCabe. She also played Gaelic football for Roscommon until her football career was ended by an acquired brain injury. It was caused by treatment for a rare condition known as HHT which affects veins and arteries which left her with just 30 per cent power in her left leg.
Team Ireland set off from Dublin Airport yesterday evening with the games getting underway in three weeks' time. Richael will represent Ireland in cycling and said it was hard work right up until the end to earn a spot at the games:
