A Roscommon businessman says he's optimistic that people will obey new parking limits in the town centre.
From later this week people will be asked to park for only two hours on Main Street in the town, so as to free up the area for shoppers.
No bye-laws have been passed to enforce the measure but Eamon Gleeson says he's hopeful people will fall in line with the plans to improve the shopping experience in the town.
The local businessman says the free parking on the town's main street is a major attraction for people, and local residents will only have to walk less than five minutes to use the ample off-street parking.
You're dependent people's goodwill and to be fair to people I've seen it working over the last while.
Our demographic is older people so you want to come in and drop your granny, drop off your mother to go to the chemist. The two hour parking is great, you can pull in there you don't have to go looking for a ticket, I think it's a great idea.
We're looking for Goodwill and I believe you will get it.
