A Roscommon firm is recording a major breakthrough in the global greeting card market.
Michelle Daly is Managing Director of P and G cards based in Athleague and is one of the nominees in this year's EY Entrepreneur of the Year competition.
The prestigious awards recognise entrepreneurs efforts to create innovative businesses that benefit Ireland and the wider world
The business was formed over 30 years ago by Michelle's parents Pauline and Jerry and now exports to countries like Spain, Portugal and Malta with its presence growing across the US and Australia.
While events such as the covid-19 pandemic and the economic downturn placed major challenges on the company, Michelle is hopeful its share in the market will continue to grow.
''We've gone through restructuring processes, Covid pandemic wasn't easy either. We have a domestic market and we have a global market as well. We have France, Portugal, Spain, Malta, and we've set our sights as well on the US there's a tap in there to the Irish diaspora and both America and Australia as well. So the nomination is a great recognition of my parents who started the business, the amazing team that we have and my family and my community.''
