A Roscommon care service has received high marks following a recent HIQA inspection.
The Health Information and Quality Authority carried out an unannounced inspection at Laurel Services operated by the Brothers of Charity Service in November last year.
The centre consists of three houses which provides supports to people who have mild to severe disability and mental health issues.
There were six residents on the day of the inspection, with inspectors describing initial impressions of the facilities as visibly clean and well maintained.
All residents had their own bedrooms and an adequate number of bathroom facilities were provided throughout the centre.
Service users also had access to the local community and were involved in activities in the centre.
Based on conversations with staff, the report states there were Covid-19 safety measures in place to protect residents.
It was also evident in the report that these measures did not impact the residents quality of life.
As a result of the inspection, it was found that the facility's infection prevention measures were good during the pandemic, but staff training is necessary to control infection risks.
