A migrants rights organisation CEO and Roscommon native has warned communities not to fall victim to targeted mis-information.
Founder of Doras, John Lannon has raised concerns over the increase in protest and action against the housing of asylum seekers and refugees.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, the Doras CEO says that there are those out there purposefully trying to spread fear among local communities with fake information.
He's called for better consultations between government and communities when it comes housing asylum seekers:
''By all means communities need to ensure that they've got the proper resources and services for everybody who's living in their community but they've got to ensure as well that they've got the full picture and they're not organising based on rumours, mis-information and lies and I would say our politicians have a role to play here as well to ensure communities get the information that they deserve and get the consultations that are appropriate.''
