A Roscommon Councillor believes newly approved safety works at five local schools will increase student safety. St Patrick's NS, Brusna NS, Camcloon NS, Cornafulla NS and St. Ciaran's NS will be benefitting from the Safe Routes to School programme. The programme will ensure safety improvements for the schools, including pencil shaped bollards, colourful road markings, as well as enhanced footpaths and pedestrian crossings to slow down traffic.
Nationally, a total of 414 schools across the country have been benefitting from the scheme since it was launched. Speaking to Shannonside News, Roscommon councillor Anthony Waldron said he would like to see more schools being added to the programme:
