A Roscommon councillor says the planned public realm enhancement of Strokestown will prove popular with locals. Cllr Tom Crosby was speaking as the local authority confirmed it was seeking a contractor for the 6-million euro project. Interested contractors now have until January 30th to submit tenders for the works.
The project has proved controversial with a group of concerned residents and retailers staging a protest last summer to voice their concerns with planned changes to the streetscape. Cllr Crosby claims those fears have been allayed and additional car parking will be introduced as part of the plans.
