Roscommon community in shock over death of baby boy in Ballinagare

A community has been left in shock and sadness after the death of a young boy in Co Roscommon.

He was struck by a Jeep in Ballinagare shortly after 9 o'clock yesterday morning.

The infant was treated at the scene, but was later pronounced dead.

Shannonside FM News understands that the infant boy was under the age of two.

Local councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice says the area is in shock.

"Its terrible news with the death of this young child here in West Roscommon and its very very sad and the local community are shocked and saddened by the news of this boy being killed in this terrible accident."
