Members of Roscommon County Council have been told that plans for a €13 million sports centre in Roscommon town are still very much in their infancy.
It follows concerns following the publication recently of some of the proposed development which doesn't include plans for an athletics track.
Director of Services Majella Hunt told members at their monthly meeting yesterday that the details released so far are a very long way from design stage, and there will still be ample time for consultation with sporting and other groups.
She said the council will meet with the consultants next week and bring up the concerns about the absence of an athletics track, and that's to be followed by a meeting with the Department.
The Director of Services said this feasibility study will only go to the Department if the council is successful in getting Stage 1 funding for the project, and there will also be a Part 8 planning application involved if that happens
