Roscommon County Council saw a surplus of over 6 million euro in their finances for 2022.
Figures from the Annual Financial Statement presented at the April meeting of the council shows the authority made 6.2 million euro more than it spent across last year. Over the course of last year, Roscommon County council spent 67.6 million euro across all departments.
The Roads and Transport Department saw the biggest spend, with 29.3 million euro in outgoings, while over 22 million euro was made in income. The local authority saw a significant surplus in the Housing and Building Department with 7.6 million euro spent vs 9 million euro in income.
The Council's water services also saw a profit in 2022, with almost 7 million euro taken in compared to a spend of 6.2 million euro. Also included in the Annual Financial Statement were spends of 8. 5 million, 6 million and 5 million euro in the Development Management, Environmental, and Recreational Amenity departments respectively.
With the addition of over 23 million euro of local property tax and rates to departmental takings of 50.5 million euro, the council recorded a total income of 73.8 million euro for 2022.The majority of the 6.2 million euro surplus was sent to the council's reserve fund, while a remaining €26,000 was added to 2021's final surplus of €243,000.
