Roscommon County Council will welcome its newest member this morning at a special meeting of the local authority.
Last month Athleague native Ivan Connaughton officially stepped down as an Independent Councillor after seven years in the chamber having indicated in late March that he would be leaving local politics.
A co-option process subsequently began in order to fill his vacant seat with seven candidates interviewed for the role during April.
21-year-old Emer Kelly, from Ballyforan, was announced as the successful political hopeful and the occupational health student will be officially co-opted on to the Council at a meeting this morning.
