A Roscommon Councillor is appealing with an environmental group to withdraw their objections over drainage works at Lough Funshinagh.
In January, Friends of the Irish Environment secured an injunction preventing any further construction works from taking place on the controversial flood relief scheme.
They believe a 3km pipeline, designed to take water from the lake could potentially damage protected environmental sites.
However, Councillor Laurence Fallon says those living in the area are suffering as a result.
He believes if planned works do not proceed families will be forced to leave their homes due to rising water levels.
