A Roscommon Councillor is urging the public to be proactive following an act of vandalism in the town.
In the early hours of Sunday night/Monday morning vandals used black paint to draw graffiti on the newly paved Square in front of the Bank of Ireland.
Independent Councillor Kathleen Shanagher is disgusted by the act and says people who witness these events should take note and contact the Gardai.
CCTV from the area is currently being examined and the chairperson of Roscommon Tidy Towns says people must know this behaviour will not be tolerated.
She says this has resulted in more expense for the removal of the paint.
