A former Chief Executive of Roscommon County Council has been appointed as the new chair of the Western Development Commission.
Eugene Cummins, who retired from the local authority in 2023, was appointed to the WDC by Minister Heather Humphreys.
The Ballygar native served as CEO in Roscommon for four years having previously held the role at Monaghan County Council.
He replaces Gerry Finn, who had served as chair of the WDC for the past three years.
Minister Humphreys reappointed five members to the new board including Aisling Meehan, Audrey Crummy, Mary Coyne, Mary McKenna and Sandra Nolan.
Mr Edmund Jennings also remains a member until his term expires in August of this year.
The Minister also appointed five new members: Breda Fox, Micheál Heaney, Patrick Duffy, Eoin Motherway and Niall O’Donnellan.
