Roscommon County Council is to offer a 300 euro allocation to communities across the county to spend to make improvements to their area in the run up to Christmas.
The funding will be allocated based on applications for amenity grants this year.
It follows on from a meeting on Monday where it was suggested that towns villages who had not received allocations for Christmas lights be provided with some funding.
While the grants can be used for lights, it can also be for other improvements as the groups deem necessary.
The details were provided to councillors today as they passed the local authority Budget for 2021, which will see 63 million euro spent in the county next year, an increase of 1.2 million from this year.
This includes 24.4 million euro on roads projects, 7.4 million euro on housing and building and 7.2 million euro on development projects.
