Roscommon County Council is to progress a number of measures to improve safety in the Bealnamulla and Summerhill area of south Roscommon.
Electric skyline has prepared costings to upgrade the lighting in the area from the Mill bar to the Monkesfield park estate area while also seeking to improve footpaths and drainage that are in need of repair.
Work is also being undertaken to prepare short term remedial measures to address safety concerns for access to Colaiste Chiaran.
Councillors John Naughten and John Keogh have also called for preparatory work to be undertaken to install roundabouts and new road layouts from the Council Depot to Cloonakilla national school to extend to the Bealnamulla football pitches.
Councillor Keogh says it's important to get the range of the scheme right from the start
