Roscommon County Council is seeking Part 8 planning permission for the proposed Strokestown Public Realm Enhancement Scheme.
The project has been met with criticism from local retailers and residents since it was first mooted over three years ago.
The planned works include alterations to the current streetscape including the provision of pedestrian and cycle routes.
Existing bus stops in the town will also be relocated from Bridge Street to Church Street and the existing parking plan will also be altered.
As part of the upgrade of the current public realm, landscaping work including the addition of trees, shrubs and green spaces will be carried out.
Street furniture including benches, seating, picnic tables and cycle stands will also be added.
A decision is due on the 3rd of November and submissions can be made until this date.
