Roscommon County Council has spent over €110,000 on video and DVD production over the course of the pandemic.
According to new data provided to Shannonside FM under the Freedom of Information Act, the local authority spent over €461,000 on various media between 2020 and the first half of 2022.
Newspaper advertisements, radio ads and promotional videos cost Roscommon County Council close to half a million euro over the last two and a half years.
As with other county councils, newspaper advertising saw the highest bills for the council in the period with a total of €217,511 paid to both local and national newspapers.
By law, local authorities are required to advertise certain projects and initiatives via the medium such as planning applications and public consultations.
Video production saw another significant slice of expenditure for the council, with over €110,000 spent on video and DVD production.
This saw a huge increase in 2021 when the amount spent on the visual medium shot up by over €40,000 to €61,000.
Radio advertising accounts for a further €96,441 of the local authority's advertising budget over the two and a half years.
In the area of social media, county council adverts online saw €6,607 spent on sites including Facebook.
Roscommon County Council saw the highest amount of money spent on advertising in the region compared to Longford and Leitrim.
