The daughter of a Roscommon couple who lost almost €1800 following a scam is calling for their bank to investigate further.
Laura says in February of this year, 18 transactions were made from her parents account to a Japanese restaurant in Italy.
It appeared as an apple pay account payment despite the couple using android phones.
On realising what had happened Laura's parents contacted their bank however she says the fraud investigation team have now closed the case without the couple getting their money back.
Speaking to Let's Talk Laura called on the bank to re-open the case.
''My dad rang looking for an update and he was told the case is closed and refused. He said it was like the legs came out from under him he was totally floored. They didn't even give them the dignity of ringing them to say we've come to the conclusion that we're not giving this money back based on this Apple Pay text sent to their phone. They've been scammed out of €1800 and the bank is saying no and it's awful when you think about it.''
