Roscommon Credit Union manager Bernie Moran says she hopes members in Roscommon and Ballaghaderreen will give the go-ahead for the amalgamation of the two branches at special meetings next Tuesday night.
Members of both branches were told of the plans in information sent out last week.
The Boards of both unions say the merger would allow for more investment in the local communities, and would allow access to a broader range of savings and loans services for everyone.
The Roscommon manager says they have developed a lot more digital services during Covid, but they also offer local decision making.
'We have our own app now , where members can log on, they can transfer money in and out of their accounts.
They can apply for loans online, they can actually apply for loans now at their kitchen tables now, y'know we have got to that stage, which is great, and that's something that the Ballaghaderreen members don't have at the moment.
They will be able to access a greater digital offering, more loan products ,fast turnaround service, and the main thing is local lending decisions, there's no loan decision going off to Dublin waiting for an answer.
