A Roscommon doctor says she's delighted to have joined a new professional football club in Australia.
It's been just over a year since Joanne Cregg moved to Perth to work at the local children's hospital and she's followed up on her strong gaelic football background with a major signing in recent weeks.
The former Michael Glavey's and Roscommon county footballer is now a part-time professional in the Australian Football League.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show, Joanne says a lot of the skills she picked up on the pitch here has helped her with her success in Australia.
There are some aspects that definitely very easy to transition over I think when you come from a team sport background in general and you have that kind of playing ability to be able to read games and to be able to work off each other.
'Although it looks a lot rougher I would say it probably is less rough than Gaelic football because the tackling and all that is so controlled.
The game is a bit longer and it moves relentlessly when you are on the pitch but definitely a lot of the skills I learned from Gaelic football, the kicking and hand passing definitely transition over very well.'
