GoSafe checked the speeds of almost 40-thousand vehicles and detected almost 70 travelling in excess of speed limits.

A Roscommon motorist was clocked speeding at 30 kilometres per hour over the speed limit in the first five hours of National Slow Down Day today.

GoSafe checked the speeds of almost 40-thousand vehicles and detected almost 70 travelling in excess of speed limits.

One motorist was detected travelling at 94 kilometres per hour in a 60km zone at Drishoge in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Gardaí have once again appealed to motorists to comply with speed limits in order to reduce the number of speed-related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads.
