A Roscommon GAA club is paying tribute to one of its footballers after he was attacked while on duty as a garda in Cavan on Monday.
29-year-old Padraig Scott, from Tulsk, stopped a car, was doused in petrol and had a gun pointed at him near Loughan House prison at a round 2am yesterday.
He was initially treated for a concussion but is understood to have been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home.
A Tulsk GAA spokesperson has described Padraig as a "highly valued and highly respected member " and as the captain of the men’s intermediate team who won the county football title in 2019.
They say that all involved in the club wish Padraig a “full and speedy recovery” and “look forward to seeing him back in action for Tulsk in the weeks ahead."
