Roscommon, Galway and Offaly have been shown to have the highest numbers of whooper swans in the latest swan census.
Nearly 300 volunteer birdwatchers , as well as staff from Birdwatch Ireland , and the National Parks and Wildlife Service took part in the census checking over 1,500 locations across the country.
A total of just over 19,000 of the migratory Whooper swans were recorded with around two thirds in the Republic of Ireland.
