A local TD has called for urgent answers regarding the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme application process following Storm Éowyn.
Roscommon-Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice claims the scheme was closed abruptly by the Department of Social Protection last Friday.
The Independent TD says it's his understanding an email was sent to Department staff instructing them to destroy all remaining blank application forms.
He says Minister Dara Calleary must provide immediate clarification on the total number of applications received, the amount of funds approved, and data for each of the tranches.
