Gardai in Roscommon are appealing to the public to wear face coverings if out shopping or in enclosed public spaces.
People are asked to protect staff in essential retail and other services for the duration of the pandemic by minimising the risk of aerosol transmission.
While gardai say that there has been good compliance at checkpoints and no offences have been detected, there is a concern over the numbers of people not wearing face coverings in public.
Meanwhile, Roscommon County Council is urging butchers and grocery businesses who will deliver to people's homes to share their details.
The local authority is putting together a flyer to be distributed to people who may need extra support over the coming weeks.
Businesses who wish to be part of the initiative are asked to contact the local authority on 6637205 or [email protected]
