Roscommon Green Party representative Julie O’Donoghue has resigned from the party.
The General Election candidate, who secured 1400 first preference votes in February, expressed her disappointment at the programme for government and cited it as a key reason for her resignation from the party.
She said on Twitter that she felt "increasingly disappointed by votes and decisions taken by the party and I no longer wish to be associated with the actions of this government."
O'Donoghue also indicated that she will now align with a splinter group of former Green Party members called the 'Just Transition Greens' which she has indicated she feels will be able to promote "real change".
