The impact of the American Civil War on the people of Roscommon will be explored at a special talk this week.
Expert Daniel Shiels is to give an online presentation in Roscommon library about the role of Irish soldiers in the American war 170 years ago.
Letters and statements left behind by the soldiers will be covered at the talk to reveal the wealth of Roscommon's heritage.
The presentation is one of the many activities that are taking place across the country as part of this year's National Heritage Week.
The event is to take place on the 15th of August at 7pm, and registration is open on the Heritage Week website.
