The new palliative care centre in Roscommon town will be officially opened today.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly will cut the ribbon on the eight-bed centre, located adjacent to Roscommon University Hospital.
After over seven years of work, it's a historic day for Roscommon palliative care services.
Six million euro has been raised through the fundraising efforts of people in the community for this new state-of-the-art hospice, developed by the Roscommon Mayo Hospice.
Each patient suite contains its own private patio and garden and the campus will also provide alternative therapies and daycare services.
The centre will also now be the base for the home palliative care teams.
Funding is being provided by the HSE to staff and run the centre.
The official launch will be performed by Minister Donnelly at 2 o'clock this afternoon.
