A Roscommon hotel insists accommodation providers across the Midlands and West are keeping their prices affordable this summer.
That's according to Geraldine Grealy who's the Director of Sales, Marketing and Public Relations at the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon town.
A meeting of the Oireachtas Tourism Committee yesterday heard complaints of price gouging in the sector with some people paying hundreds of euro to stay in the capital.
However, Geraldine says this is not the case locally.
While the Roscommon native admits hotels across the country have been forced to introduce minimal price increases due to rising costs she feels rates are still affordable in this region.
"We have had minimum price increases but nothing on a par with what other hotels in the country might be charging. Some hotels and restaurants will just have to take the hit and hopefully ride through this little storm of uncertainty at the moment but look, as I said, things are tipping along here and we are busy. We are seeing price increases across the board for food, and your wine and that type of thing, buying in products."
