A Roscommon IFA representative and sheep farmer has expressed his concern over recent sheep kill incidents.
His comments come as 50 lambs were killed in a dog attack in Co.Offaly last weekend.
There have also been reports of attacks in the Ballinameen area of Roscommon and on the Longford-Cavan border.
Michael Glennon, IFA Sheep Committee Representative and Roscommon sheep farmer, says that these incidents are extremely worrying for farmers coming into the lambing season.
"Every morning I go out hoping that my sheep haven't been attacked last night. It's very worrying coming into the lambing season very shortly and efforts have to be made to control the job. We're coming up to Christmas now and I would ask dog owners to make sure that they know where their dogs are over Christmas and that any person who are thinking about getting a dog as a present, think twice about it. A dog is for life, not just for the two weeks at Christmas".
