The 14 day incidence rate in the LEA stands at 813 compared to the national average of 598, with 185 cases detected locally.
The majority of other local electoral areas in the region fall below the national average with just two other areas recording higher 14 day rates.
Longford Town and Carrick on Shannon have rates of 785 and 633 respectively.
They've recorded 126 and 72 new cases of the virus.
That's followed by the Ballymahon LEA at 586 with 83 cases in the last 14 days and the Ballinamore LEA in Leitrim at 527 where 52 new covid cases were detected in the last fortnight.
Boyle, Athlone and Granard districts are all reporting transmission levels below the national average.
99 positive tests were registered over 2 weeks in Boyle, 97 in Athlone and 49 in Granard.
Nationally, the region with the highest 14 day incidence rate is the Clonemel LEA in Tipperary at 1089.
