The Roscommon/Longford garda division is asking members of the public to nominate young people for the Garda Youth Awards before the end of this month.
The awards celebrate outstanding young people between the ages of 13 and 21 who are making a positive contribution to their local community.
The awards began in Cork over twenty years ago and even though they have only been running locally for the last few years, the division has also had two national winners already.
Inspector David Cryan says while there hasn't been the same opportunity for young people to become involved with projects in the past year and more, there's still been a lot of great work going on in supporting older and vulnerable people.
The closing date for submissions is Friday the 30th of April and nomination forms are available at https://www.garda.ie/en/crime-prevention/community-engagement/an-garda-siochana-youth-awards/roscommon-longford-division-garda-youth-awards-2021.html/.
