A Roscommon MEP says there are no plans to withdraw EU payments from 'armchair' farmers in 2023.
The Irish Farmers Journal says this group are to be targeted in the new Common Agricultural Policy, which is being negotiated.
It could mean 10,000 people, who lease out their land, could lose their CAP payments.
According to Midlands-Northwest MEP, Luke 'Ming' Flanagan who is involved in the negotiations, the measure won't be brought in.
