A Roscommon mother and daughter have been awarded a prestigious Road Safety Authority award.
Clodagh and Méabh White from Roscommon town were presented with the Gertie Shield Supreme Award for their contribution to road safety awareness.
They received their award from Minister of State for Transport Jack Chambers at the RSA Leading Lights in Road Safety Awards recently.
Seven years ago, Clodagh and Méabh suffered serious injuries when they were involved in a road traffic collision.
Méabh's little brother Rian, who was just two at the time, was also in the vehicle but suffered relatively minor injuries.
Doctors believe his rear-facing car seat, which was inspected by the RSA 'Check it Fits' service just days before the crash, saved his life.
