Fr Billy Molloy, a nephew of a Roscommon priest who was violently killed almost 40 years ago, has died. Fr Billy was originally from Castlerea and worked as a priest in the Manchester area. Upon his retirement, he moved back to his native county and was living in Convent Court in Roscommon town.
The Diocese of Salford said it's sorry to share the sad news that he died this morning. Fr Billy often celebrated the anniversary Mass for Fr Niall Molloy, his nephew who was killed in Clara, Co Offaly, in July 1985. He will repose in McDonaghs Funeral home from 5-6.30pm on Wednesday evening with funeral mass at 11am in Castlerea on Thursday morning.
