A Roscommon native who has a form of incurable cancer will take part in a major fundraising event at the Dublin Horse Show next week.
Sean Moran who’s originally from Crossna but now lives in Dublin was diagnosed with Multiple myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer almost 12 years ago.
On Saturday August 20th next, the North Roscommon man who always had a passion for horses will compete in a show class at the event in the RDS.
While doing so, he hopes to raise as much money as possible for the Irish Cancer Society.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show Sean says he’s trained at Moorlands Equestrian Centre in Drumshanbo and taking part next Saturday will be a personal victory for him.
''I have something like six collapsed vertebrae in my spine. And I'm really lucky to be able to walk. It's hard. So, for me it's sort of a personal dream to get back on a horse. Again, it's an amateur class more because of the horse and not because of me, but that's what I was put into and it's a competition. We're off to the RDS.''
