An advanced paramedic working with the air ambulance based at Custume Barracks in Athlone says it's been an honour to have been able to work with the service for the past several years.
The Emergency Aeromedical Service is a partnership approach between the Irish Air Corp who fly and maintain the helicopter, and the National Ambulance Service which provides the medical personnel.
Pat Moran who's from Roscommon town has been working with the service since it was first established almost 10 years ago.
He says while being part of the air crew means dealing with some very serious cases, it also gives a huge amount of experience to those involved...
