Voting picked up late yesterday evening across Roscommon with many areas reporting turnouts of over 60 per cent.
Polls closed at 10pm, after being open since 7am.
In Strokestown, there was a turnout of approximately 60%, while in Tulsk it was slightly higher at 63%.
Elsewhere, a total of 64% was recorded at polling booths in Ballinagare.
Meanwhile, the turnout for Castlerea and Drum were 60% respectively.
Counting is currently underway at the Hyde Centre in Roscommon where 18 seats are up for grabs in three electoral areas.
