County Roscommon was one of the most active in the country last year when it came to land changing hands.
That's according to the Property Editor of the Irish Farmers Journal who was commenting on the papers annual report on land prices across the country.
Roscommon recorded the highest prices paid per acre in the Connacht region going up to almost €9,000 per acre.
Speaking on the Let's Talk show Paul Mooney says a lot of famers are trying to improve their holdings in the county.
'There is a lot of great farming and intensive farming in Roscommon on the livestock side of things. That is reflected in the competition for land as the average price for land last year went up 11% close on €9,000 per acre. So a strong price there for land and a very active county for farming land with a lot of very busy auctioneers.'
