Last night was the coldest of the year so far.
A low of minus 8.8 degrees was recorded in Mountdillon in Co Roscommon, as much of the country was under an orange warning for low temperatures and ice.
A yellow alert for the entire country has been extended until midday tomorrow, with Met Éireann warning of icy conditions and some showers of freezing rain, sleet and snow.
