County Roscommon recorded the second highest level of afforestation in Ireland last year.
A total of 190 hectares of land was newly planted with trees - almost twice the figure of County Leitrim.
For the first time ever, the Central Statistics Office has published research on the amount of land newly planted across the country.
Cork accounted for 17% of the total afforested area in 2021 followed by Roscommon at 9.4% Clare at 8.6% and Cavan at 7.9%.
