A Roscommon school has been recognised as the first LGBTQI+ safe and supportive school in the Shannonside region.
Roscommon Community College received the accolade at a special ceremony hosted by the Lord Mayor of Dublin at the Mansion House on Thursday last.
It's accredited by the 'Belong To' programme which provides training to teachers on how to interact with students and tackle transphobic and homophobic bullying.
The programme is now rolled out in 15 schools across the country and Co-Ordinator and teacher Kathryn Dinnegan says it's of huge benefit to students and teachers.
